IN THE iNQUIRER REPORT ABS-CBN airs kidnap video shot secretly,it says:
Dinampo not convinced
At the resumption Monday of the preliminary investigation of the case, Mindanao State University Prof. Octavio Dinampo—who was himself taken hostage—maintained he had yet to see any evidence to prove the Isnajis were involved in the kidnapping.
Dinampo has executed an affidavit virtually clearing the Isnajis of involvement.
“I executed that affidavit in the interest of truth and justice. It is my truthful belief that there can be no justice if we point fingers at the wrong guys,” Dinampo told the Philippine Daily Inquirer (parent company of INQUIRER.net).
He said that during their captivity, "I did not hear anything that incriminated them (the Isnajis).”
He also said Drilon “might have been pressured by police” into joining the case filed by police. He did not elaborate.
The poor professor can not, in conscience, allow the blame to be put on other’s shoulders and let the real culprits go scott-free. If he has been studying the Abu Sayyaf case, he should know that that is how the game is played. He really should not care much now because the Isnajis themselves really do not want to defend themselves. If they continued with lawyer Firdausi Abbas, they could have been freed by now.
Professor Dinampo must be truly appalled at what is happening. The man (Mameng Biyaw) whom he believes betrayed them is now the star witness of the government. While the man who negotiated for their lives is in detention together with his son.
I admire Prof. Dinampo. He at least have the guts to maintain the innocence of the Isnajis even if the Isnajis themselves are not too keen on defending themselves.
In order to better analyze the Moro situation, the professor should learn a thing or two about real politik.
